When Your Mind Won't Stop Racing

September 6, 2026

Philippians 4:6-7 — "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Some weeks feel heavier than others. Maybe it's the bills that don't quite add up, the phone call you're dreading, or the quiet worry that follows you from room to room. You don't need to pretend it isn't there.

This verse doesn't ask us to stop feeling anxious before we pray — it invites us to bring the anxiety itself to God, exactly as it is. Not a polished version of our struggles, but the real, unfinished mess of them. That's the posture of honest faith.

Notice, too, what's promised isn't necessarily an answer or a fix. It's peace — a peace that doesn't wait for the circumstances to change first. It guards us in the middle of the unresolved, which is usually where we actually live.

If you're carrying something today, you don't have to carry it alone or pretend it's light. Name it. Hand it over. Then let your heart rest, even if just for a moment, in the fact that you were never meant to hold it all by yourself.

Lord, thank You for meeting us in our worry instead of waiting for us to have it all together first.

Verse of the day

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
